Maybe the Tastiest Vanilla Waffles Ever – Ready in Just 1 Minute!

I’ve loved homemade waffles since I was a kid — and I think I’m not the only one. When my mom used to make them, I could barely wait for them to finish cooking. That sweet vanilla smell would fill the whole house, and when they were ready, she’d always dust them generously with powdered sugar. It was something truly special — simple, but unforgettable.

Sure, these days you can buy all kinds of waffles in the store. But let’s be honest: nothing beats the warm, soft, fresh-out-of-the-waffle-iron taste of homemade ones. I’ve tested plenty of recipes over the years and tried all sorts of variations. Some were fine, others didn’t quite hit the mark — but this one? This is a keeper. It’s easy, quick, and always a hit with the whole family. Definitely worth saving — you’ll be making it again and again.

Ingredients:

  • 3 eggs
  • 250 g vanilla yogurt (or plain yogurt if that’s what you have)
  • 100 g cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • A bit of oil for greasing the waffle iron (optional)
  • 120 g softened butter
  • 150 g flour
  • 120 g powdered sugar

Instructions:

Start by getting all your ingredients ready — and if you’re missing something, well, that’s what husbands are for, right? Send him to the store.

Now, mix everything into a smooth batter. Nothing fancy — any home cook can handle it. If you like your waffles a little crispier, add 1–2 tablespoons of regular sugar to the batter. It’ll caramelize slightly and give you that nice golden crunch.

Want them super fluffy? Here’s a trick: separate the eggs, beat the whites until stiff, and fold them in at the end.

Let the batter rest for a few minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your waffle iron to high. If needed, lightly grease it with oil. Then pour in the batter, a bit at a time, and cook until golden — usually just a few minutes per waffle. Serve them hot, straight from the iron — that’s when they’re at their best.

Topping ideas: Fresh berries, powdered sugar, melted chocolate, whipped cream — whatever you like. And if you’re not into super-sweet, just cut back a little on the powdered sugar in the batter.
